I grew up on Hawai'i Island, commonly called “The Big Island." As a kid, it was clear to me that Hawai'i Island was created specifically for my adventurous spirit. As much as I've explored, I can attest that it can take an entire lifetime to discover the island in its entirety. In my 40’s, I’m still discovering places, people, and mo'olelo (stories) that speak to my ever-evolving heart. The island is diverse and generously offers a lifetime of magical experiences to anyone willing to embrace “aloha,” the pillar of Hawaiian culture.
At the age of 17, I moved to Gainesville, Florida, where I attended the University of Florida for my undergraduate degree and later my MBA. (Go Gators!) I found 'ohana in friendships and made Florida my home for 18 years.
I began my real estate career in South Florida in 2010. It wasn't easy, but it proved to be one of my best decisions. I witnessed Miami recover and rebuild and had the opportunity to work with people from all parts of the globe as colleagues and customers. I learned to communicate, build relationships with, and adapt to, people of various cultures. I've maintained many of these relationships, which continue to enrich my life both personally and professionally.
I returned to Hawai'i Island in 2017 and joined my mom’s real estate team, Team Nakanishi, at Hawai'i Life Real Estate Services. Just a few months after, I was diagnosed with stage II breast cancer, and I now regularly give my time to the American Cancer Society as a speaker and lobbyist. And, in an almost defiant sort of way (I was going to beat cancer!) I also became involved with the Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Committee; Hawaii Island Realtors® as Program Committee chair; Vibrant Hawai'i providing real estate market analysis; Hilo Skate Park Coalition's Event Committee; I personally organized a fundraiser to purchase over 100 pairs of shoes for children of Pahoa elementary school who were affected by the 2018 lava flow; and, I've been a speaker and presenter for the Zonta club on several occasions. I’m grateful for the many opportunities I've had to work with others to positively impact our community. And, I was so honored to be named Hawaii Island Realtors®, Realtor® of the Year in 2022.
