Big Island’s Waimea Christmas Parade Lights Up Saturday, December 1st
There is a feeling of winter in the evening air in Waimea and with Christmas just around the corner…it’s parade time in Waimea! This year’s parade will be the 42nd Annual Waimea Christmas Twilight Parade, taking place on Saturday December 1st at 5:30PM.
The parade starts at Church Row on Mamalahoa Highway and ends in Waimea Park. It’s important to know that during the time of the parade all through traffic in Waimea will be shut down. So, if you’re traveling that night, you may as well join in the fun and watch the parade while in town.
Waimea’s Christmas Parade has floats and tons of fun for the kid in all of us
Waimea Annual Twilight Christmas Parade Details
Waimea is known to be cattle country and the home of the Paniolo, and this tradition is reflected in the Christmas parade. Many of the parade entries are decked out, lit up, fancied up semi trucks. I have to say, I grew up in a farming state, Iowa, but I have never seen a Christmas parade quite like the Waimea Christmas parade’s holiday 18 wheelers. Actually, many of these trucks will keep some of their parade decorations on and in the following weeks you will see them around the Big Island.
- When: Saturday, December 1st beginning at 5:30PM
