Wailea is one of the most coveted residential areas on Maui, and for good reason. This luxurious enclave offers stunning real estate, first-class amenities, and a relaxed, neighborly lifestyle. Like me, if you are captivated by Wailea, here’s an opportunity to join this exclusive community.
Maui’s Unique Wailea Ekolu Village
Wailea Ekolu Village is a sought-after condominium resort situated on nearly twenty idyllic acres in the heart of Wailea Resort. What makes this property unique is its convenient access to golf, dining, and shopping combined with quiet residential living.
Wailea Ekolu 305 (MLS# 352761) is located smack dab on the 15th fairway of Wailea’s Old Blue Course, which, of course, is a golfer’s dream come true. One of my most memorable golfing memories was when I holed out from 157 yards going over the tree that’s in the middle of the fairway. I didn’t make an eagle…not even a birdy, but saved par – OUCH!
But you don’t have to be a golfer to appreciate the beauty and quality of this property, especially with a range of amenities that include two solar heated pools, an entertainment pavilion and family-friendly barbecue areas.
As if to counter balance its remarkable location, the decadent interior of the two-bedroom, two-bathroom 1,071-square-foot Wailea Ekolu 305 features granite and marble throughout, elegant cherry wood cabinets, imperial plaster walls, surround sound with sound proofing — and much more. The unit was stripped to the studs and rebuilt luxuriously. It is the nicest and most comprehensive remodel that I’ve seen in Wailea Ekolu…simply stunning.
Superb Location
Every serious conversation about real estate involves location. Unit 305 in Wailea Ekolu Village is on the front row and is a leisurely stroll from Ulua Beach and Keawakapu Beach, two of South Maui’s most popular spots for snorkeling, swimming and sunbathing. Both beaches also offer some of the best views of Wailea’s world-famous sunsets.
Of course, if you are a golfer, you are in very close proximity to the award-winning Old Blue Course, and a short drive (pun intended) away from Wailea Golf Resort’s championship Gold and Emerald courses, which, along with the Blue course, have been ranked among the best resort courses in the nation.
The Wailea Tennis Club is also nearby. I don’t play tennis, but I do know that the Wailea Tennis Club is the largest resort tennis facility on Maui, and you can take lessons, enrolling clinics, or watch tournaments year-round.
The Shops at Wailea: A Shopper’s Paradise
Also a stone’s throw away is a shopper’s paradise, The Shops at Wailea. This open-air mall features more than 70 boutiques, shops, restaurants and art galleries. This is one of the many reasons why my wife and I never take our Wailea office for granted — when our work is done for the day, we often enjoy a Happy Hour cocktail at Longhi’s Wailea, or a mouth-watering, homemade dessert at the Tommy Bahama restaurant upstairs.
When it comes to shopping, the Shops at Wailea have something to suit just about every taste. I’d recommend checking out Baron & Leeds and Tori Richard, while my wife suggests perusing the racks at the Gucci and Guess stores.
The Shops isn’t the only game in town, though. You’ll find an eclectic assortment of restaurants, shops and galleries at just about every one of Wailea’s palatial resorts — and you don’t have to be a registered guest to shop or dine there, but I’d suggest making a reservation in advance just in case, particularly at Spago’s in the Four Seasons.
As you can probably tell, I’m a huge fan of Wailea, and there’s much more to the area than I’ve described here. I would be happy to provide more information, or answer any questions you may have.
