Understated and Elegant: Luana Garden Villas in Honua Kai at North Kaanapali Beach

If you’ve been to the Honua Kai resort you’ve probably appreciated the hip, contemporary style of the complex, along with the spa and Duke’s restaurant, not to mention the fantastic location on North Kaanapali Beach. Luana Garden Villas was part of the Honua Kai master plan in 2005, but with the economy tanking, the project is just taking off now. Construction hasn’t started yet… but I’m really excited about the plans – understated and elegant in every way.

The preview room is open and I love the look of the proposed project! Luana Gardens combines contemporary design elements such as open concept and light earth toned palettes with the best Hawaiian style such as indoor/ outdoor living (think covered outdoor kitchen areas with a barbecue and tropical gardens). The renderings of the villas show spacious three bedroom condos with light wood, white breezy interiors with splashes of mid-century Hawaiian design such as ceramic/pottery style backsplashes and bright orange and turquoise tiki-style textile accents on streamlined tweed sofas.

72 villas are offered surrounding three different garden environments with pools and fire pits, yes fire pits! The development is located in the large grassy area mauka of the two Honua Kai buildings and the public park. There will be easy access to the white sandy beach and all of the resort amenities like the spa, water slide, and restaurants.

From what I gathered, condos will be 2000 square feet on average with open floor plans – all 3 bedrooms and 3 baths. Apparently pricing is around $1.8M. Not sure of the monthly maintenance fees yet, but the villas will be approved for short term vacation rentals! Oh, and private garages for each condo.
