Twin Falls in Haiku is a hot spot for locals and visitors alike. A short nature hike from your car and you are immersed in the verdant beauty of the falls. There are several different areas along the Honokala stream bed that are perfect for a quick dip, or a quiet spot for a picnic lunch.
This photo is a picture of my son, Dylan, in different stages of his jump. Of course, you want to be sure that the water level is high enough—and you would never want to dive in headfirst (yes, I know I sound like a mother), but it really is best to be certain.
What is so lovely about the area is that anyone that can walk three to five minutes can enjoy this little piece of timeless old Hawaii. EMI (East Maui Irrigation) water ditches that were hand-carved in the late 1800’s, and still deliver water to the sugar cane in Central Valley, populate the path.
Bird watchers like to trek further up the path for a sneak peak at some of Maui’s song birds. Also, don’t pass up the all-natural smoothie, or coconut juice, to refresh you on your way back to the car.
