Investors know that Ko’Olina is growing in popularity, not only as a vacation destination, but also with full-time residents. Homes in The Coconut Plantation can be rented out monthly, according to sites like VRBO, for approximately $4,500 per month for a two bedroom unit.
A lovely setting
Military service members who “have” to live in Hawaii for a 3-year tour may as well feel like they live in Hawaii every day. Why live in a could-be-anywhere suburb? Instead, live near beautiful beach lagoons, the Disney Aulani resort hotel, a marina, and a golf course.
Disney’s Aulani Resort
First-Time Homebuyers can afford properties in Ko’Olina. Plenty of listings are priced below Oahu’s median home price, and they include the quality and features today’s buyers expect, such as granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and ample parking. Many millennials want to live within walking distance of shops, restaurants, and entertainment. All of that is possible in Ko’Olina.
Peter Merriman’s Monkeypod
Retirees who don’t need to commute to downtown are attracted to Ko’Olina not only for its resort amenities and active social community, but also for access to medical care at the new Queen’s Medical Center West Oahu, and for daily needs at the nearby Target, Costco, Kapolei Theaters, and a wide variety of services.
Golf Course
Second Homeowners often buy in Ko’Olina and do not rent out their homes while away, so they have a beautiful vacation home in a resort location available at a moment’s notice.
One of two pools at Coconut Plantation
Badgers – and by that I mean Wisconsinites. I’ve sold two homes in The Coconut Plantation in the past year, both to couples from Wisconsin. So, if you to buy there, it may get noisy when the Packers score!

Interested in Living Here?
My current listing in Coconut Plantation is a 2 bed, 2 bath one-story unit on the ground floor of a quad-plex building. It is in excellent condition and has a beautiful lanai. It’s in an excellent position in the community for quick access to all resort amenities.

Coconut Plantation is gated and separate from the rest of the resort, and has two swimming pools and a hot tub grotto inside the private community.

Nice article Alison! Could you also ask Hawaii Life to list KoOlina under condo communities on Oahu? (Right side of page.) Mahalo nui.

There are many lovely condos even farther west about 12 miles. Some with the most amazing beach front access. The Leeward side of Oahu is the best kept secret of the island in my opinion. If you don’t want the constant city life of Waikiki, and want easy access to everything. Leeward is the area to look.

You’re right, Tony. There is so much variety in property and setting, even on this small island! You can live in a resort, like Ko’Olina, or in an urban setting, like Waikiki, or a small beach town like Kailua, or an agricultural area like Punaluu, and the list goes on and on. I truly enjoy helping clients sort it out every day.
