The #1 Mistake Mainland Buyers Make When Shopping in Hawaii

If you’re planning to look at property while you’re on vacation in Hawaii, there’s one mistake you don’t want to make.

I’ve seen it happen often enough and sometimes, it can cost buyers the opportunity to get the property they want.

So, what is the mistake?Waiting until you’re here to start looking at properties.

I don’t mean the actual looking at the properties, I mean waiting until you get here to get that set up.

If you’re staying for several weeks, great—you’ve got time. But if you’re only here for five to seven days? That’s a problem, especially with vacation rentals.

You can’t just walk in and expect to see them. They’re often booked solid, and coordinating showings takes planning.

This happened to a couple that I worked with; I met them when they walked into the office while I was doing floor time. They had been on Kauai for five days and had just two days left on their vacation. They genuinely had no idea that by the time we narrowed down what they wanted, everything they were interested in was unavailable for showings because it was occupied.

We ended up walking around the complex instead, and two months later, they made a second trip out and bought a property. But that extra trip could have been avoided with better planning.

So, here’s what you do  Start the conversation before you get on the plane. That way, I can line up showings, get you into vacation rentals between bookings, and make sure you maximize your time while you’re here.
