The 17th Annual Honolulu Festival, presents a grand finale to two days of entertainment, including Sunday’s Grand Parade down Kalakaua Ave. in Waikiki. On the evening of March 13th 2011, there will be a time of spectacular wonder and a moment for world peace.
Japan’s internationally renown, Niigata Prefectureis, will present a spectacular artistic and detailed display known as, “Tenchijin Hanabi” with its Honolulu Festival version and Niagara. Launched from the ocean off of Waikiki Beach, this is a must see!
I always try to have a bit of Hawaii history included in my series of ‘Talk Story’ blogs. It is interesting to know that during WWII, Nagaoka was attacked by American forces prior to the end of the war, and we all know that Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese military resulting in America joining into WWII.
Turns out that the Japanese Commander of the attack was Naval Marshal General and the Commander-in-Chief of the Combined Fleet of Japan, Isoroku Yamamoto, who was born in Nagaoka, and history states that he was always against starting any war with the United States.
Thus, there has been a connection between the two cities and this year, a decision was made to honor those who sacrificed their lives in both Nagaoka and Pearl Harbor. The Nagaoka Fireworks will be as a memorial service with the staging of the “Fireworks for World Peace.”
This is just another wonderful example of our diverse cultures blending together and activities enjoyed like no other. Are you desiring to be a part of this Hawaii lifestyle? Perhaps with a more moderately priced property?
A selection of available properties are within walking distance to famous Waikiki and beach areas. Between the wide Ala Wai Canal, with various views of the Ko’olau mountains, Diamond Head, and even some ocean.
