Born and raised in Long Beach, California, Jeannine Carr has been a Hawaii resident since 1976. She and her husband Phil live in Kahana, Maui, in a home they built twenty years ago. It features Pacific Ocean views and unobstructed views of the West Maui mountains, where they say they can watch the moon come up each night.
“I had a wonderful childhood growing up in Long Beach, California, and was fortunate to go to school with the same core group of friends and students from kindergarten through high school,” says Jeannine. “I attended college in Long Beach and also San Diego.”
With a brief stint on Oahu to continue her education, Jeannine has called Maui her island home for more than 40 years. Following a decade of working in health care, she became a realtor in 1996. In her 24 years in the industry, Jeannine has closed in excess of $175 million in sales. Within the Kapalua Resort, she has worked on many new residential projects, including the Coconut Grove on Kapalua Bay, Kapalua Bay Residences (renamed the Montage Kapalua Bay), and vacant land sales in Pineapple Hill Estates and Honolua Ridge phases I and II.
Her favorite aspect of her job has been the many friendships she has established with her buyers and sellers. “I am inspired by many of my clients whom I have a great business and personal relationship with. They come from so many different professions and I love learning about them and their points of view,” says Jeannine. “On the business side, I am a detail-oriented person and I love assisting sellers with the preparations needed to list a property and finding buyers the perfect Maui property for themselves and their families.”
Each unique project and client has expanded her experience, while Jeannine has continued to broaden her expertise, engaging in more formal education throughout her long career. She pursued her broker’s license in 2000 and also acquired the Certified Residential Specialist / CRS designation from the National Association of Realtors®.
The CRS designation is the highest credential awarded to residential sales agents, managers, and brokers, and is awarded to the top three percent of realtors in the United States. “Educating myself about the real estate business is important to me,” says Jeannine, who also stays on top of the latest tech to serve her clients better, earning NAR’s e-PRO® certification.
Why She Joined Hawaii Life
Jeannine recently joined the team at Hawaii Life. The company she worked with for over 21 years announced they were closing their doors on June 30, 2020. “This gave me an opportunity to think long and hard about which company I could see myself joining. The number one company I thought of was Hawai’i Life because they are so supportive of their agents and offer so many tools for an agent to improve their business,” says Jeannine.
“The essence of the company aligns with my philosophies and the technology and support teams offered to agents are amazing. In my heart, I know Hawaii Life was the perfect company for me to join. Focusing on providing excellent service to my clients is of great importance to me as a detail-oriented person who pledges to provide individual attention to each and every client.”
“From the moment I considered Hawai’i Life as a company, I felt completely welcome by Director of Operations Rhonda Lee Hay and CEO Matt Beall,” says Jeannine. “Mary Anne Fitch and I have been involved in a lot of business transactions over the years and her support was instrumental in my move to Hawai’i Life.”
Jeannine was impressed by our company’s healthy balance between business and encouraging time to relax and enjoy what Hawai’i has to offer. “The commitment Hawai’i Life has to charitable giving also attracted me to the company as I too have been involved with fundraising for military families,” says Jeannine. “I am looking forward to collaborating with agents at the Hawaii Life Kapalua office and the many offices within the Hawai’i Life network.”
“All my life, I have been a person who loves to help people and it is my nature to assist fellow agents. I have been a part of the Maui community since 1976 and I am happy to share my knowledge of the island and the Kapalua Resort, where I have specialized for over twenty years,” says Jeannine. “I am very open to creating a solid team foundation and collaborating with other Hawai’i Life agents.”
Jeannine’s Maui Life
She loves to golf, take daily walks, and socialize with clients and friends while participating in member activities offered by the Kapalua Club, within the Kapalua resort. “The beauty of Hawai’i draws millions of people to the state and I am very lucky to live here and enjoy the amazing weather and year-round golf and outdoor activities,” says Jeannine.
When she’s not out on the links enjoying a round of golf at Kapalua, you can sometimes find Jeannine sailing the waters around Maui with her husband on the Manu Kai, the last remaining 1948 Woody Brown catamaran, still in pristine condition. She says she’s grateful for her husband Phil, her siblings, and many friends who enrich her life.

Much to do.
Hope the new office is going well!
