Giving Tuesday — the first Tuesday in December — is upon as, as is the holiday season. Hawaiʻi Life Charitable Fund – Easy Choice to Support Hawaiʻi Communities

Why does Hawaiʻi Life have the Hawaiʻi Life Charitable Fund (HLCF), our donor-advised fund under the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation?  Our mission is to work to preserve Hawai‘i’s beauty and culture by supporting its people. We support local charities and causes throughout the state that are aligned with our mission, primarily through grant funding.

Many of us as Hawaiʻi Life agents are in the “100% Club” — meaning we make a contribution to HLCF out of our commission at every single closing. Our past and current clients and fans of Hawaiʻi Life in general can also contribute directly — as they did to the tune of almost $1.5 million with our special appeal after the devastating Maui fires of 2023.

You can donate directly to the Hawaiʻi Life Charitable Fund here.

And if you are looking for unique holiday gifts, we still have awesome Maui Strong wearable gear for sale.

Hawaiʻi Land Trust – Easy Choice to Support Conservation and ʻĀina Stewardship in Hawaiʻi

There are hundreds of small organizations doing active preservation, conservation, and stewardship of ecologically, culturally, and agriculturally important lands in Hawaiʻi. If you are a resident or own property here, supporting one near you is a perfect way to deepen your relationship to place (your agent or our Hawaiʻi Life Conservation and Legacy Lands practice can connect you.) Even as a visitor, there are opportunities to volunteer during your stay.

Hawaiʻi Life has been in partnership with the statewide Hawaiʻi Land Trust for a decade, as volunteers and with financial contributions. Wonʻt you consider joining us with a donation to Hawaii Land Trust this giving Tuesday? And if you miss it, consider a year-end charitable gift, or grab some HILT gear for your holiday gifts.

Supporting Local Businesses With Holiday Gift Giving

A few locally produced items that would make great holiday gifts!

Of course our local businesses also welcome your economic support over the holidays!

You can order gift baskets or individual items from The Makeke — an online marketplace created during the Covid pandemic by the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement to support small businesses, and still going strong. Once you discover your favorite individual vendors, you can visit them directly online or at their stores when you are here. But I love the Makeke collections. Iʻm shopping their Keiki Department for cute childrenʻs clothing.

I travel interisland a lot and have been pleased to see House of Mana Up shops at some of my favorite resorts. This is another option to purchase unique products from small businesses based in Hawaiʻi. Here is a link to the House of Mana Up online store, and they even have a 2024 Holiday Gift Guide up! Iʻm eyeing the coffee, chocolate and cookbook for hostess gifts.
