Sion Milosky’s death shook the island surfing community to its core. He was a family man and surfing legend.
Having spent so much time growing up and living on and by the ocean, I think I love the island ocean lifestyle the most—islanders of all races who are water people that have a close bond to each other, the ocean, and Mother Earth; a sensitive breed.
Fundraiser for the Sion Milosky family, by Jack Johnson and John Cruz
My daughter, Meleana, and granddaughter, Maluihi, took me to a fundraiser a few weeks ago I will never forget. Jack Johnson and John Cruz under the stars. The music started and the coconut palms danced with us all. Very surreal.
Sion passed that evening in March surfing Mavericks. Our hearts go out to those loved ones you have touched so deeply, and to your friends and especially family left behind.
I met Susie Milosky one morning as she dropped off wonderful hand-me-down toys for my granddaughter while I was visiting at my daughter’s house in Shark’s Cove on the North Shore of Oahu. This was a real hit with my granddaughter as it was a toy kitchen and all the pots, pans, and accessories her two girls grew out of. Thanks, Susie!
This Kauai native is dearly missed! Feel free to donate to the Milosky family at the link provided! Live Like Sion!

Sion was one of those people that everyone needs in their life. Spend any amount of time with a guy like Sion and you want to spend the entire day with him. One of life’s low profile super heros will be missed.
