Just Listed: Upper West Maui Vacation Rental with Ocean Views at Polynesian Shores

The Stice Team just listed Polynesian Shores #211, which is a two bedroom/two bath fee simple vacation rental property located in a well-kept oceanfront building in Upper West Maui in the town of Honokowai. This property was remodeled in the past couple of years, has a very nice ocean view, a view of the island of Lanai, and is priced to sell at $549,000. You will not find a nicer property at this price point in West Maui at this time.

Lanai

The covered lanai area at Polynesian Shores #211 (MLS# 358678)

The ocean view is unobstructed towards the southern direction and is best enjoyed from the 95 sq.ft. covered lanai, which is a great viewing platform for sunsets during the vast majority of the year and for Maui’s favorite spectator sport, Humpback whale watching.

Great Floorplan

The open floor plan of the living area blends seamlessly with the transition to the outdoor living area allowing in lots of natural light and excellent trade wind breezes to keep everything cool. The upstairs loft serves as the master suite, which is pretty common for many of the two bedroom units in Polynesian Shores and other surrounding complexes in Honokowai.

Excellent Upper West Maui Oceanfront Location

Polynesian Shores is a quaint low rise condominium complex in Honokowai, which is North of Ka’anapali and just South of Kahana. There are several small white sand beaches in Honokowai and the water directly in front of the complex is magical – perfect for swimming, diving, and cruising on stand up paddle boards.
Polynesian Shores Beach

The small beach that directly adjoins the two acre grounds of the complex is perfect for children to play on and enjoy the surrounding tide pools as well as serving as a launching spot for all sorts of water activities

There are several more popular beaches to the South in Ka’anapali and a few to the North namely in Napili and Kapalua. Specifically, a few of my favorite beaches here are North Ka’anapali Beach, Napili Bay, Flemmings Beach in Kapalua, and Mokuleia Beach (aka Slaughterhouse beach in Kapalua).

Polynesian Shores is also located roughly about 10 minutes away from outstanding golf courses – to the South you have the Royal and North Course in Ka’anapali, and to the North you have the Bay and Plantation Courses in Kapalua. All of the courses are a lot of fun and my personal favorite is the Bay Course.

Plantation course

My wife, some co-workers at Hawaii Life, and I recently played the Plantation Course in Kapalua and it was especially spectacular as the surf at Honolua Bay was absolutely huge (see the lines in the water as well as the white water). In any event, this is always a great course to play.

If you are looking for a real challenge I would suggest the Plantation Course as this is the toughest course on Maui; in my opinion, there is a reason that this is home to Maui’s premiere professional tournament in the Hyundai Tournament of Champions.

Relaxed Feel & Low Density Complex

Polynesian Shores has a very private and serene feeling. The owner demographic is mature and enjoys the serenity and relative privacy of the location in contrast to the neighboring resorts in Ka’anapali, which are more oriented towards younger individuals and those with young children.

Nearby Restaurants

The Kahana Gateway complex is about a two minute drive to the North of Polynesian Shores. My wife and I really enjoy eating at Dollie’s Pub and Cafe for pizza and wings, and our favorite sushi restaurant, Miso Phat, which is a nice contrast to Sansei’s in Kapalua as it is very small and intimate and the selection as well as freshness couldn’t be any better.

Further to the South in Honokowai you will find Times Supermarket and two more of our favorite eateries – Jose and his amazing taco stand at Ono Tacos and some nice Italian food at Pizza Paradiso. There is a small natural foods store at the Honokowai Farmer’s Market where they do an open air produce market 3 days a week as well as full time enclosed store.

S Turns Sunset

A recent sunset at “S-turns,” or Pohaku Beach Park, which is within a short walking distance from Polynesian Shores. I spend a lot of time on the water surfing on my stand up board at this spot and am always mesmerized by nearby pods of dolphins and whales swimming, the stunning silhouettes of the outer islands, and looking back on shore to the verdant West Maui Mountains serving as the backdrop for all of this incredible beauty

Strong Rental Income

I am happy to furnish complete rental income statements upon request, but I can tell you that the property does rent very well, and the operating costs are pretty reasonable in terms of HOA fees and the management fee that the front desk rental operation charges.

Aloha from the listing broker,

Aloha Jeremy –
I follow Hawaii LIfe – Maui on Facebook and saw this property today. I am curious as to the monthly HOA dues. My husband and I are frequent travelers to Maui and we’re considering the possibility of selling our rental home here in WA state and possibly investing in a place we think of as our 2nd home. Just curious right now as to the dues. Thanks so much!
