Boating Lifestyle on Oahu’s Southwestern Shores

A good friend of mine said that he has always wanted to live right on a sandy beach, in Hawaii, with west facing views of the sunsets!

It was also imperative for him to have a sailboat in a marina, with a slip, for all their favorite ocean activities, such as: sailing, snorkeling, free diving, spear fishing, kayaking, fishing, and, of course, sunset cruising with the “on board” BBQ grill/happy hour routine happening!…No worries! Here are my favorite Oahu condos and homes near a sandy beach facing the setting sun.

While conducting this property search, I also had to keep in mind that my friend also wanted to own a brand new, energy efficient (off the grid) Eco home, with long term investment potential (i.e., self sufficiency, usage for family and friends visiting the islands, and for vacation rental income, etc.)

Well, budget was the main consideration, of course…lifestyle and climate is “given” on Oahu. The projected total cost for what they fashioned came to $845,000.00…assuming they paid current “full price” market value.

• Downtown Honolulu Condos – Minutes from Keehi Lagoon Marina at Sand Island, Delux 45-foot fiberglass hull sailboat, with slip (live aboard option available)…$60,000. Boat slip fee = $450.00 p/mo. ($10.00 per linear foot of the boat) 45ft boat = $450.00 p/mo.
• Hoakalei Resort Marina Development/Ewa Beach – New, 3 br/3 bath, Hawaiiana architectural design/Eco friendly, with a 2 car garage…$600,000. $135.00 per month for “home owners association dues” (HOA).
• Hawaii Kai Marina Front Living – A broad array of condo, townhome, & single family home products, where you can have a boat dock right out your front door! Just nominal marina fees for the homes, and standard maintenance fees on the condos/townhomes. Products start around $450,000!

Note: Each product here – condo/boat/home – are in premier locations on the southwestern shores of Oahu…and approximately a 30 to 45 minute drive, max, from one another during “off peak” hours.
