Napili Shores – SunnyAloha’s Maui Condo Adventures

Today my mommy took me to see Koi fish at Napili Shores condominiums. The complex is located on Napili Bay, and the edge of Kapalua Resort. She promised me ocean views and large areas of grass to run around, some sandcastle time at the beach, and I could eat in something called a gazebo.

Napili Shores is a collection of 152 single-level condominiums. They spread out over 9 two-story buildings. The complex was built in 1973, offers management by Outrigger Hotels Hawaii Management Co., and allows both long and short-term rentals.

The Outrigger program is rare in the way it operates; it is a rental pool. The rental pool is pretty clever. You don’t have to lift a finger and you receive a net check from the year end proceeds. The Outrigger program is not the only option. Off-site management can be used as well.

They don’t allow pets at Napili Shores, but they have lots of fish in the big fish pond near the lobby.

We parked on the side of the first group of buildings in the visitor parking near the front desk and lobby. In the lobby, there’s the Iron Imu BBQ, which has great ratings, and a general store named Water Works Sports where you can buy some outdoor sporting accessories as well as snacks, drinks, and gifts. I even found a couple toys I wanted to buy, but apparently I already have enough.

The first pool and BBQ area is just beyond the pond. The pool is a nice size and has plenty of lounge chairs to sit on. There is a spa at one end of the pool.

Once out of the pool area the grounds open up with lots of nice, fresh cut grass to run around on. I wish I had brought my soccer ball. I just learned how to play a couple weeks ago. There’s definitely enough space to kick the ball around here. As we wound around the paved pathways towards the ocean, I saw the many condo units that lined the property on the left and right.

Many of the condos had ocean views, but those that didn’t could at least see all the pretty landscaping or the West Maui Mountains. There were also a lot of Plumeria trees on the grounds. Plumeria trees are the ones with the beautiful and good smelling flowers. I’ve learned that my clothes smell better when I put the flowers in my pockets and let my daddy wash them. He must like it too since he’s always talking loudly with excitement when he’s cleaning all the flower pieces out of the washer and dryer; no washer and dryers in these units, there is a laundry center on site.

We came across 3 more BBQs, which all had a long picnic table in front of them. Behind the BBQs was a large checker board that used old painted coconuts as pieces. I don’t actually know how to play Checkers, but I had fun rolling the coconuts around. Next to the checker board was what mommy called a shuffle board court. No one was playing, and I’m glad, because it looked really confusing.

Next was another pool with those long chairs. The pool definitely looked like a bean. I was calling it the ‘bean pool.’ On the other side of the pool there were some stairs that led down to the ocean and the beach. Unfortunately we were here on business, so I didn’t get to go on the beach and build sandcastles, but we did get to eat a really good meal at The Gazebo thing.

There were a lot of people snorkeling in the ocean near the condos and I saw a couple turtle heads poking out of the water. This complex is a prime location off Napili Bay in West Maui.
