Maui Weekend Events – October 18

Aloha friends! The feature this weekend on Maui is the Hawaii International Film Festival. The MACC is also bringing to the community another Observe & Play Family Day on Saturday. On Saturday afternoon, head to the Shops at Wailea for the Maui Steel Guitar Festival. Art by Yasmina Reza continues this weekend at ProArts Maui in Kihei. And lastly, we have a couple MIL football games this weekend on Maui as we wind down the football season.

Observe & Play Family Day at the MACC

This Saturday morning from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, the MACC is hosting Observe and Play Family Day. This is a free event for the community. Families are invited to come witness the Altered Earth Exhibit by Sarah Metz. Several interactive maker stations will be available outside the gallery for families to create art to take home with them.

Hawaii International Film Festival (HIFF)

The Hawaii International Film Festival takes place this weekend! There will be four showtimes on Saturday and three on Sunday. HIFF is an Academy Award recognized Festival in its Best International Short Film and Best Made-In-Hawaii Short Film award categories. Tickets are $12 per film.

13th Annual Maui Steel Guitar Festival

The Maui Steel Guitar Festival takes place this Saturday at the Shops at Wailea. The festival will run from 3 pm to 6:30 pm. This is a free event to promote the appreciation and interest in the Hawaiian Steel Guitar. The festival is produced and presented by the Hawaiian Institute for Music Enrichment and Learning Experiences, HIMELE.

ART by Yasmina Reza translated by Christopher Hampton and presented by Two Coffees, Please continues this weekend. This comedic play is the 1998 Winner of Tony Award for Best Play and the 1996 Winner of the Oliver Award for Best Comedy. The show runs every night Thursday through Sunday.  Showtime Thursday, Friday and Saturday is 7:30 pm and Sunday 5 pm.

MIL Sports

This is week 8 of Division I Football. We have two games this weekend. Friday’s game, Baldwin takes on Maui High at War Memorial. Saturday night, King Kekaulike plays Molokai at King K. Game time is 7 pm for both games
