Maui Upcountry Agriculture Land Ready for Spring

The official start date of Spring is March 20. Spring begins with the vernal equinox at 7:02 A.M. (EDT) on March 20, 2013 in the Northern Hemisphere.

Equinox: Derive from Latin for Equal night for the Equal days and equal nights as the sun rises and sets due East and West.

Maui Land and Pineapple Preps to Sell 633 Acre Kalialinui Estate

Many on Maui are gearing for Spring in the real estate world. As a company based on farming, one of the those gearing up for Spring is Maui Land and Pineapple, Inc (MLP). They are anticipating a strong quarter of sales after watching a surge of Maui Real Estate activity at year end and in February 2013. MLP is prepping to sell the 633 acres that is currently listed as Kalialinui Estate (MLS# 351887). With large tracts of land in limited supply, this is a rare gem.

633 Acres of land for sale in Upcountry Maui

I have had the opportunity to work on this preparation by increasing our media for the property. We have brought in new talent to take care of archiving photos and videos on the property. As I write this, I am thankful that we beat the recent bout of needed rain for Upcountry Maui. Here is a glimpse of our latest photo session.

Other media coming are low elevation virtual tours and videos by NV Media. MLP and I are diversifying and reaching out to a new type of Buyer that we have not targeted yet. We discussed this needed media boost after a prolonged work trip to the Bay Area of California.

After spending time at the plethora of farmers’ markets, open air shops, and great restaurants serving Niman Ranch meat products and organic produce, we discussed the reality of having this property remain in viable agriculture. With the renaissance in persons wanting to lessen their impact on the Earth, eating foods that travel shorter distances to the table, this land is a rare candidate.

Maui Land with Broad Diversity of Agriculture Options

The property’s elevation and soil have allowed it to remain as a coveted pineapple farm for decades. With decent rainfall and County Water service for agriculture, reservoir on site, etc., this should attract the attention of a forward thinking agriculture venture.

We have been approached by farmers for blueberries on the upper levels to corn, cattle, Chinese herbs, turmeric, pineapple, greens, exotic fruit, cacao, Photo voltaic and everything in between. The elevation and temperature would allow for this broad diversity.

If needed, the 3 current parcels that create the property would allow for a boutique farm estate or campus of sorts. The subdivision potential could also allow for additional estates to coexist in a bucolic farm setting while enjoying unrestricted ocean, sunset, mountain views.

Not enough land? There has been discussion of adding in lands to create over 1,000 acres of contiguous agricultural property. Contact me for details.

Property Ready for Next Generation Farmer

Did I mention that all of this would sit on the slopes of Haleakala? This would allow our next generation of farmer to finish a hard day of work with a session of kitesurfing at Kite Beach, down wind Maliko SUP, mountain bike in the Makawao forest, horseback riding, or taking the view in from this crown jewel.

I can see it!! This property is ready for our next generation of farmer. Maui County is ready to promote its own agriculture. With the well known public purchases of agricultural lands from Larry Ellison’s “empire” on Lana’i and Oprah Winfrey and Oprah’s Organics on Maui, people and the world are very aware of the benefits of locally produced organic products.

Current prices for real estate allow for farming once again at this moment. The timing is right as Spring is upon us. Come enjoy the best that Maui has to offer. Contact me to get started.
