Wouldn’t this be a wonderful spot for a Sunday brunch?
A client contacted me to see what was available at the Makena Surf a few weekends ago. The catch was that they could only look on that day and within a 3 hour window. I donned my Super Realtor cape and perused the Multiple Listing Service to see what was available and came up with some options in their price range. Next came the calls. I was fortunate enough to get in touch with an owner/agent in the building who was very accommodating. I was a little skeptical as it was almost the lowest-priced unit (MLS#342373) in the complex, but I felt it would be a good way to get us into the building to see if the clients would like it.
Pleasantly surprised was my reaction.
It was the best unit I had seen in a very long time. A welcoming entry enticed us into the living/dining area which further led us to a very pleasant ocean view and ground floor lanai. The unit had high ceilings in the public rooms which made the 1618 square feet seem more like 2000! It truly felt like I had stepped into a suite at the Grand Wailea…complete with gourmet kitchen. Two very spacious bedroom suites and two baths completed the package.
All eyes were looking at this captivating view.
Although the unit was extraordinary, we spent most of the time out on the patio. The green from the landscaping and the blue of the water was absolutely mesmerizing. I could see by my clients’ reaction that they could live here. Our host had lived there since the unit was built, so she was a wealth of information.
The complex is considered low density featuring gated access, two swimming pools, spas, and four tennis courts, all set amidst lush tropical gardens.
Spend a relaxing afternoon at the pool!
We followed the meandering path to the pool which then led us to the beach walkway. That completed the tour of the Makena Surf. The complex is one of the most “solid” buildings on the island. It has a strong vacation rental record and good sales history.
Prices at the Makena Surf isn’t cheap. This listing (MLS#342373) is priced at $2,495,000 but look at these two recent sales:
Unit #F-103, 1510 square feet, listed at $2,700,000, sold for $2,475,000 on 02/10
Unit #E-301, 1640 square feet, listed at $4,398,000, sold for $3,375,000 on 05/10
Some of these may have had a better ocean view or were closer to the sand, but what unit C-105 had to offer was equally compelling.
