So many of my friends are members and homeowners at the Mauna Kea Resort, it’s such a nice treat to enjoy the amenities with them!
Kauna’oa Beach at Mauna Kea Resort
Just a few days ago, I was at the Mauna Kea with Sooz, who has been a regular since the 60’s at Kauna’oa Bay, (the beach at Mauna Kea). The surf was HUGE and we got first-hand experience on how valuable the local beach boys/girls are (lifeguards and concession attendants).
Here’s how it unfolded: Sooz’s friend, Lisa, was playing in the waves and didn’t anticipate that ole’ Poseidon would gladly consume her $300 “Jackie O” designer sunglasses. A bunch of us were searching for them by combing the surf, back and forth—with no luck.
We realized it was time for “beach boys to the rescue.” One of our favorite beach boys, Mana, made a bee-line toward one particular spot on the entire beach. Without hesitation, he reached down into the water and picked up the glasses. It was a spot completely off the path from where they disappeared. You see…he didn’t need to search. He knows exactly the ebb and flow of the tide, (and churn on this particular day)! Impressive!
The local contributions and connections are just one more reason Mauna Kea and our many Hawaiian places are so special. Just another day at the beach, living our best Hawaii lives! For your own connection to Mauna Kea, I would suggest Kumulani condos for affordability, Moani Heights for residential style living and Kauna’oa for luxury!
