Ask any farmer on the Big Island what it’s like to grow crops in Hawaii, and you’ll likely hear the same response: “It’s rewarding, but it’s hard work.” So, if you’ve got the itch to grow your own [insert your favorite crop] and you’re new to farming, I suggest you start small.
Our 5-bed, 3-bath listing offers privacy, ocean and mountain views, and a fully-fenced yard (MLS# 299892)
Noteworthy Features
Located in Captain Cook in the South Kona district on the Big Island of Hawaii, this 2.2-acre property is a great option. When scanning the approximately 100 macadamia nut trees and 75 coffee trees, the opportunity is enticing but not overwhelming.
Macadamia nut trees and coffee trees cover a large portion of the 2.2-acre property
The current owners manage the harvest themselves and share it with friends and family. While they choose to keep the agricultural component low key, there’s plenty of potential to increase the harvest and take it to the next level. The property also includes beautiful coconut palm trees, plus lilikoi (passion fruit), banana, pineapple, and lime. And with a gentle slope to the land, there’s room to add more!
Relax on the lanai of the main house with cool breezes and views of Kealakekua Bay
Overlooking Kealakekua Bay, this acreage offers luxury features without the luxury price tag: privacy, ocean views, large lanais, a fully-fenced yard, a long driveway with gated entrance…and a detached guest quarters for friends and family. Plus, it’s a fee simple purchase (not leasehold), which can be hard to find in the South Kona district.
Well-maintained, the main house features redwood walls, oak flooring, and an open beam ceiling

Hello Mike,
This place looks beautiful. I am interested in moving to the big island and starting small farming Kona coffee. I definitely want to purchase fee simple and don’t want a leasehold. What elevation is this at? What is the price for the property? How much are annual property taxes estimated?
Thanks,
Robert
