Location
This farm is set on hillside which slopes down towards the ocean and looks out over one of Hawaii’s most sacred spots, pu’uhonua o honaunau or Place of Refuge (an ancient Hawaiian temple and now a National Park). It is easy to see why the Hawaiians chose this area for a temple. The seller named the farm “Sweet Spirit Farm” and you can learn the story behind the name at her website, www.sweetspiritfarms.com.
The Home
A newer home, built in 2004, with panoramic views sits at the top of the gently sloping property. A spacious lanai surrounded by lawn off the great room and master suite is the perfect place for watching whales, sunsets or star gazing. My favorite touch is a private outdoor lava rock enclosed shower off the master suite.
Coffee Processing
Next to the home is a state of the art coffee wet mill for processing the fresh coffee cherry. No expense was spared; concrete drying deck, stainless machinery and tanks, imported equipment. Nothing but the best for Sweet Spirit Farms.
The Farm
The majority of the 10 plus acres is planted in coffee and a variety of gourmet mangos. Both the coffee and mango trees are all just coming into maturity. The land is fully irrigated and although county water is available a catchment system was installed to save on the water bill and provide irrigation. There are a few remaining acres which could be planted in coffee, mango or another crop that would thrive here such as dragon fruit.
Worker’s Cottage
Near the bottom of the property is a newly built workers’ cottage. This one bedroom cottage is off grid with solar and propane for power. It’s perfect for housing workers or family. The main home is on solar as well but is connected to the grid.
This is a leasehold farm. The majority of the coffee, fruit and flower farms in the Kona Coffee Belt are leasehold. The lease rent is relatively inexpensive and I’d be happy to explain the ins and out of leasehold.

@Heidi. Yes its a great place and a “great lifestyle”. Just minutes from “Two Step” and some the best snorkeling in Hawaii too. Feels like another world yet shopping is only a few minutes away. I love it.

As the owner of Sweet Spirit, I can tell you that it IS a very special and unique place and you can sense it as soon as you arrive. Sometimes it’s difficult to get family and guests to leave, so instead I just put them to work and we all enjoy it together. I’m not sure which is my favorite thing here. It’s probably a toss up of 3 things. 1. The sweet gardenia-like fragrance in the air after a beautiful blossoming of Kona coffee; 2. The beauty and taste of ripe, luscious, red and golden mangos (which is happening right now by the way); 3. Looking out over the property and seeing no neighbors, watching beautiful sunsets over the ocean, and gazing at the stars with no nearby lights to distract. OK, I guess that was more like 6 rather than 3. But you get the idea.

Tremendous property Erik; definately an “old Hawaii” feel…..just from the photos alone but I’m certain this is better when your feet are on the soil. The mangos alone say something for the richness and perfect climate of the property.

This village is situated in 108 km from Bamako the capital of the Republic of Mali on the main road of Bamako and the Republic of Guinea. Our village owns an area of over 2,000 hectares of cultivable land. We occupy now 123 hectares.
We would occupy more space in conjunction with a donor, an International NGO or agricultural foundation. We would do a lot productions, but we lack technical assistance and equipments.
We received twenty micro-projects of young villagers including, inter alia:
– Planting of mango, jujube, lemon and other
– Cereal crop
– Breeding
– gardening
Before anything else, we look for the technical support for the training of our young people (Agents, organizers, farmers) on the new methods of the agriculture(farming), the plantation, the fishing, the poultry farming and others.
We want to work closely with an organization similar in your country or a large planter mango. Please put us in touch with this service. We would like to plant 10,000 mango trees season 2014. Which kind of mango is good and more productive now?
