Nearby is the Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge, established in 1985 it is a sanctuary for seabirds including frigates, shearwaters, the red-footed boobies, and the Laysan albatross nesting on the property.

The town of Kilauea is the heart and soul of this intimate community. It is here you will find many dining pleasures and unique retail shops. The Kilauea Fish Market and Kilauea Bakery & Pau Hana Pizza are local favorites. Kilauea Bistro will entertain you with delectable creations and local musicians.
