Ke Kailani Offers Central Location on Hawaii Island’s Kohala Coast
Conveniently located on the central Kohala Coast (aka the Gold Coast for the many luxury resorts, upscale resort residential communities, gourmet restaurants, and high-end retail found here) within the iconic Mauna Lani Resort, the oceanfront Ke Kailani community makes a perfect starting out point for exploring this stunningly beautiful and historic region of the Big Island.
Just 10 minutes south, you’ll find Waikoloa Beach Resort set on Anaeho’omalu Bay (A-Bay) a wide crescent of white sand beach and crystalline waters favored by ocean sports enthusiasts. Kite surfing, sailing, outrigger canoe, and stand up paddling are among the activities.
Instead, sit back and relax with a cool drink and some ono (delicious) food? Lava Lava Beach Club, set directly on the beach, is the perfect spot to view all the action while enjoying some great food and beverage.
The resort also boasts two popular outdoor shopping malls – the Kings’ Shops and the Queens’ MarketPlace – filled with a variety of boutiques, jewelers, galleries, restaurants and entertainment venues, including Waikoloa Luxury Cinemas. A restaurant helmed by one of Hawaii’s most beloved chefs (Roy Yamaguchi) also is located here: Roy’s Waikoloa Bar & Grill.
The resort is also home to the Hilton Waikoloa Village with its outstanding spa, and numerous shops and restaurants. Stand out eateries at the hotel include Kamuela Provision Company (KPC) and the newly introduced Nui Italian – sleek, chic and authentically divine from its handcrafted cocktails, Roman-style pizza, pasta dishes, and a wide selection of Italian specialty entrees.
To work up your appetite, follow the trail adjacent to the east end of the Kings’ Shops to explore the vast, lava-strewn field of ancient Hawaiian petroglyphs (rock carvings).
Stay tuned for an upcoming blog that will uncover some of my favorite beaches, hikes, farmers markets, and more just minutes north from Ke Kailani at Mauna Lani Resort!
