Blessed to Call Kauai Home
What a strange and beautiful time to be living in Hawaii! The lifestyle here is already slower-paced than almost anywhere else (we call it “Island time”) but now, with tourism effectively shut down, those of us who are blessed to call Kauai home feel like we’re in a “way back” machine.
There is economic pain, for sure, but the farmers are still tending the fields, supplying us with an abundance of fresh veggies and fruit. The surf has been firing. Rainbows continue to bless us daily, and every night we watch the sunsets set the sky aflame.
Absent the commerce that usually drives our days, we have time to notice the small things, the gifts we take for granted. I can’t imagine a better place to be quarantined. Our community is coming together in all kinds of ways, like the folks at Link Make Give. Link Make Give is a volunteer collaborative that’s offering mask-making materials and instructions.
From floods to hurricanes, we know how to band together in a crisis, and we’ll survive this one. We’re one big ohana, and aloha is the glue that unites us.

Nourish Hanalei – Kauai Meal Delivery Service offering three meals weekly. Order by Monday and have meals delivered on Wednesday.
