Tickets are still available for the first Gold Concert of the Kahilu Theatreʻs 2017-2018 season. These intimate concerts in luxury venues… think private homes in the most exclusive Kohala Coast communities… feature artists performing sold out shows at the Kahilu Theatre in Kamuela, and benefit their Arts Education Program. Hawaii Life Real Estate is a sponsor of the Kahilu Gold Series.

Brooklyn Raga Massive – Friday, October 3
The first concert features Brooklyn Raga Massive (with a surprise slack key superstar sitting in!) and takes place at the Kalaemano o Ka’upulehu Cultural Center on Friday, November 3. Doors open 5 pm for libations, pupu, and conversation; the concert program should start just as the sun sets around 6 pm.
According to the Kahilu Theatreʻs press release, Brooklyn Raga Massive is a collective of highly talented musicians who blend two of the richest music traditions in the world—American jazz and Indian classical. Add to that the ki hoʻalu (slack key guitar) genius who has agreed to sit in, and you have a unique cultural exchange.
In New York, Raga Massive musicians play weekly concerts and jam sessions in a variety of clubs and venues. Most of the musicians in the group are of Indian origin, were born in the US, and studied with Indian classical music teachers both in India and on the mainland.

Two More Gold Concerts Remain
The Kahilu Theatre is in the heart of Waimea town and for over 30 years has brought global and local performing artists to entertain both visitors and residents of Hawaii Island.
This season more than a quarter of the music, dance and performance art programming for the Kahilu Theatre was chosen specifically to appeal to local youth in addition to delighting the sophisticated patrons of the Theatre. The proceeds from the three Gold Concerts sponsored by Hawaiʻi Life are dedicated to Arts Education. The Kahiluʻs Performances for Young Audiences program serves more than 8,500 young people a season. In addition, after school classes are provided in partnership with Waimea Middle School, which is literally walking distance from the Theatre.
If you canʻt make the November 3rd date and want to do good for the community while enjoying the world-class musicians, you have two more opportunities to support Arts Education on the Big Island.
Hawaii Life agent Karen Ferrara is sponsoring Manoa DNA on January 20, 2018.
Hawaii Life agent Hilary Millar is sponsoring Robert Cazimero on February 16, 2018.
Tickets are available online, or at the Kahilu Box Office in Waimea. Or call me quickly if you want to be part of my group of special friends attending this week at a discounted rate!
