Join Hawai’i Life at the Made in Hawai’i Film Festival Taking Place this May in Hilo and Kona

Hawai’i Life is honored to be one of the sponsors supporting the fourth annual Made in Hawai’i Film Festival (MIHFF), a celebration of the best of Hawai’i-made independent films. The festival will be held at the historic Palace Theater in downtown Hilo on Hawai’i Island from May 6 – 8, 2022, with a follow up, single-day screening at the Aloha Theatre in Kona, Hawai’i on May 14.

Run entirely by local filmmakers, the Made in Hawai’i Film Festival showcases the work of creatives living in the aloha state. A weekend-long event, the festival supports Hawaii’s independent arts, fosters community engagement, and perpetuates the importance of Hawaii’s culture by spotlighting cinema being made in and about the Hawaiian islands. MIHFF offers a unique space to celebrate Hawai’i on screen, while being built for filmmakers, by filmmakers.

The Made in Hawai’i Film Festival celebrates the accomplishments of talented, local filmmakers across multiple genres and styles, including documentaries, narrative shorts, music videos, feature films, experimental cinema, and animation. The annual festival also features a free pitch and networking event, and producer’s panel where attendees can learn about creating micro-budget work.

Supported by community partners, Hawai’i Life, and many other dedicated sponsors, the weekend provides opportunities for creatives to connect directly with the audience and the community before closing with an awards ceremony.

In Hawai’i. About Hawai’i. For Hawai’i.

At Hawai’i Life, we love events that bring us together because we live here, we work here, we’re raising our families here, and we’re involved in our community. Like you, we love supporting the local arts and cultural events that strengthen these community ties. That’s why we’re also the sponsors of the Filmmakers Mixer on Saturday.

The Made in Hawai’i Film Festival supports and grows Hawaii’s independent arts by spotlighting cinema being produced in and about Hawai’i, and we hope you can join us for this highly-anticipated event.

A full lineup of the festival’s films and schedule of events is available at MIHFF.org.

In Hilo, single tickets are available for $10 and a full weekend pass is available for just $35. Please visit the Made in Hawai’i Film Festival’s website to purchase tickets and get more information on the Kona screening. We look forward to seeing you there!
