Ilikai Waikiki Hotel is located at the ewa “west” end of Waikiki between the Hilton Lagoon and Waikiki Yacht Harbor, boasting some of the best views on the planet.
Originally just called The Ilikai, Hawaii’s first luxury high-rise hotel opened in 1964, and from what I have heard over the years, was the first to offer a new concept of real estate ownership on Oahu called “condominium” in the late sixties.

At first, people found it hard to be comfortable with buying a box of air in the sky, however, it did not take long for the idea to catch on. Today, Ilikai consists of 343 hotel rooms, 80 timeshares, and 586 condominiums that can be used as a permanent residence, or a combination of vacation rental and personal use.
The location is popular with a lot of people because it is within walking distance to the Ala Moana Center—originally the largest shopping mall in the United States when it was built in 1959, and still is the largest in Hawaii.

You might recognize the Ilikai building pictured above from scenes in the original and current Hawaii Five-O television series. There are currently 14 active listings of one and two bedroom condos for sale ranging in price from $257K to $775K—ocean view condos starting at $349,888.
