Hawai’i Re-Opening to Visitors, Oct. 15th – Remember the Aloha Spirit

Since late March there has been a 14-day quarantine issued for visitors to Hawai’i; however, Hawai’i is now allowing visitors to avoid the state’s 14-day quarantine by showing a negative test result from a COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of departure to Hawai’i, commencing October 15th.

The results must come from an FDA authorized nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT) performed by a CLIA certified lab. Click here to read more information from Maui County.

Maui is also participating in a voluntary second post-arrival test, also administered within 72-hours after arrival, and it will be free of charge.

“This is the biggest single effort since the pandemic began to reopen our economy,” Ige said at a press conference held at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport.

Now that visitors can once again enjoy Hawaii’s stunning natural environment, the state of Hawai’i is asking for your kokua (help) to join in the efforts to keep Hawai’i safe.

This means that everyone must officially wear face masks in all Hawaii airports and when entering places of business and practice social distancing.

Not only this, yet visitors are reminded that these past months of closing our doors to visitors has allowed Hawai’i’s natural environment its own time to recuperate, so to please go gently, be patient and help protect and preserve our island communities and ecosystems by respecting the principles of the ‘Aloha Spirit’ — engaging with the people, places, and wildlife in a kind, humble and respectful manner.
