With all of the recent talk of the dismal economy I was pleasantly surprised when I did some research the other day and discovered:
- In the $ 2 Million + range over 31 properties have sold in Hawai’i in the last 60 days
- At the top an incredible beachfront 174 acre estate on Kauai with a 15,000sq.ft home recorded a $28,000,000 CASH sale
- Maui led the pack with 12 sales followed by 10 on the Island of Hawai’i, 7 on the Island of Oahu and 2 on the Island of Kaua’i
- Wailea Resort on Maui and Kuki’o and Hualala’i Resorts on the Island of Hawai’i are the HOT SPOTS with a majority of their islands’ sales
- CASH is KING! With the exception of a few Conventional Loans, Cash is the driving force for many of the transactions

Great stats Tobi. Amazing how Maui leads the state in foreclosures and luxury home sales. Sounds like there’s great buys over there on both ends of the spectrum!

In even the few short days since this post went up, we’ve taken some incredible listings on Kauai. Roberta is listing an incredible beachfront home in Ha’ena for $8.7m, with an adjacent home on the same compound (separate lot) for $4.7m… and Bobby Galchutt and I have brought on two listings at Kalihiwai, $6.9m and $8.9m (incredible homes). We have the listing on Hanalei Bay that’s closing on Tuesday (listed for $2.25m) and then there’s the sale that just happened on the Bay for $10m.
So, there’s definitely action.

As Heidi White wrote about in her latest blog – there is due to be an auction held simultaneously at Hualalai (Four Seasons Big Island) and Kukio on the Kohala Coast, January 18, 2010. There will be at least a gorgeous house at Kukio last listed in the $8M+ range up for auction, as well as Cher’s house in Hualalai. The best part? NO RESERVE PRICING!!!
The luxury market is definitely on the move on the Big Island.
