Haiku in Windward Oahu | A Lush Alternative to Beach Living

When most people think of Hawaii, they picture long white sandy beaches with clear blue water, and while that is a perfect picture to keep in mind, there are other areas of Hawaii. One of my favorites is the lush, tropical verdant area known as Haiku on the Windward side in Kaneohe.

Lush, Tropical Landscape

This area features some of Hawaii’s best gems — such as Ho’omaluhia Botanical Gardens and Byodo-In Temple located in Valley of the Temples Memorial Park. Both places should not be missed and are easily accessible for a driving tour or a hike.

Full of exotic plants, flowers, and trees, this serene area is ideally situated close to major highways H-3 and Likelike for access to Honolulu and highway 83 for access to Oahu’s North Shore. Kailua Town is also a short drive via the coastline or over the hill, with its beach town vibe, wonderful dining, and boutique shopping.

Ideal and Affordable

Not only is Haiku beautiful, with its backdrop of the spectacular Ko’olau Mountains, buts it’s convenient, too. Windward Mall offers so many nearby conveniences, with its shops, restaurants, movie theater, farmers’ market and indoor play areas for kids.

For military families, Kaneohe Marine Corps Base is located here where shopping, dining, gas, and recreational facilities, including a gorgeous golf course, are available.

All of this makes living in Haiku ideal and affordable for many. For example, in Eden at Haiku Woods, I currently have a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, home with a large interior storage room and two parking spots available for purchase, priced at $599,000. It’s an excellent value for 1,452 sq ft of living space (MLS 201908762).
