Is there really a difference between gelato and ice cream? Yes, as a matter of fact, there is.
Nothing beats a delicious gelato from Gypsea Gelato at the end of the day. My husband and I always leave room for dessert after dinner on date night so we can enjoy our favorite flavors. His is lilikoi and mine is lemon cookie which is not always available so I am on the text message alert system when they get it in, seriously. Our favorite location is at the Kings’ Shops in Waikoloa Beach Resort.
The original Gypsea Gelato opened in 2014 in Kealakekua by Sandra and Tim Heaton. They strive to source local ingredients and maintain close relationships with their farmers and you can definitely taste the difference. Gypsea Gelato has three convenient locations now, which is great. In addition to the Kings’ Shops, they are also located in Coconut Grove Marketplace as well as Kealakekua.
Make sure to bring a cooler so you can take an extra pint home. Ask them about their frequent buyer punch card program too because who doesn’t like free stuff? Next time you are in the Waikoloa Beach Resort area, make sure to swing by and tell them Linda sent you!
