Fear of Flying?

If you have a fear of flying just getting to Kauai may be a daunting task, but it’s well worth the effort.

You will be rewarded for your bravery with some of the most spectacular sights you will ever see. The island has an abundance of amazing tropical flora and fauna, clean fresh air, turquoise Blue Ocean (that is as warm as a swimming pool), and the sweetest people on the planet. But once you are here you will no doubt be faced with that fear of flying once again, long before your return flight for home boards.

Much of Kauai’s vast, rugged and remote areas can only been seen from the air and as a result, you will no doubt be encouraged to take a helicopter tour so that you can do just that.

While I don’t have a “fear of flying” I wasn’t exactly excited about taking that first trip myself, I am not a thrill seeker, and never really enjoyed the adrenaline rush, but when my Sister and her husband visited from Kentucky, they asked me to go with them, so I did.

I did expect to see the beautiful island in a way I had never seen it before, but what I didn’t expect was the flood of emotions that came over me. The helicopter pilot, observing my emotional state gently touched my knee and said that it happens all the time, and that it was OK!

Over the years I have taken that ride again with other visitors and felt that emotion again and again myself, and observed it in others.
