Discounted Travel and Favorable Exchange Rates Bringing Canadians to Hawaii
Favorable currency exchange rates plus the ease and cost of travel is appealing to Canadians! A recent issue of Pacific Business News published an article indicating that total visitor arrivals from Canada are up 12 percent over the prior year according to the Hawaii Tourism Authority statistics.
Canadians have long had a love for the tropical climate of Hawaii during their harsh winter season. A major factor contributing to larger visitor arrivals is the increase in airline capacity, and lower priced airfares particularly from the northwest. The article states that at the time of publication, a round trip ticket for a nonstop flight from Vancouver to Oahu was $460 including all fees and taxes.
But most importantly, the favorable currency exchange rate is boosting both travel and spending. In checking the exchange rate today, I was pleased to see that the current exchange rate on 12/20/10 is:
1 Canadian dollar = 0.9896 U.S. dollar
Regular visitors from Canada are starting to take advantage of our depressed housing prices, lower cost airfares, and the very favorable exchange rate of their currency. Astute buyers are looking at this combination and making decisions to purchase properties in Kauai. The time may never be better!
To our friends from Canada, this is a wonderful time to fall in love with the beauty of Kauai, and make a piece of it your own! Enjoy this video of Kauai, and its wonderful music!

It’s great for our visitors from NA, ay! And the prices on Kauai are the lowest I’ve seen in many years!

There was just an article in one of our newspapers that indicate that there are most real estate transactions occurring between Canadians than there are between Japanese–who has held this distinction for many years! Canadians love Hawaii–and why not!
