When the ocean calms on the North Shore of Kauai, it unlocks one of our favorite Kauai activities, day tripping by boat down the Napali Coast. With the onset of summer, we took a recent excursion down this historic and magnificent stretch of land.
Waking up at first light, we packed our day bags and drove to the iconic pier of Hanalei. The Napali coast offers unparalleled beauty from the land to the sea. Cruising out of Hanalei, you experience full panoramic views of one of the most beautiful bays in the world and the mountains of Hihimanu, Namolokama, and Mamalahoa that oversee it. Often your boat is ushered down the coast by pods of spirited dolphins.
Once out of Hanalei, the coastline extends for miles exposing narrow ridges and deep valleys cascading over rocky cliffs and long beaches. Wild goats traverse the mountain ridges above and adventurous hikers speckle the trails on their way to camp in the Kalalau Valley.
As you travel downwind and stare out at the landscape you can feel the rich history of this place. A hui ho (until we meet again).

Beyond words! Paradise. Only the sea, can I set my dreams free…
