Custom Kula Property with Breathtaking Views to Nourish the Mind, Body & Soul

I had the pleasure to show and hold open houses at a lovely property on the slopes of Haleakala. This home has a large deck that spans the entire back of the house to take advantage of sweeping bicoastal views. Each time I visited the property I stepped out on the deck to enjoy the amazing panorama. There really is a certain uplifting feeling when encountering such a beautiful Maui scene, and it made me wonder whether there is any science to support this. We commonly read descriptions of views written in terms of physical responses such as breathtaking, stunning, or jaw-dropping. Can our response be measured?

It turns out that I’m not the first person to ask this question. Studies have shown measurable effects, both mental and physical, that exposure to nature and beautiful views can have on humans. This study suggested that merely changing the view from a patient’s hospital room window could encourage healing. This body of work explores mental fatigue and how exposure to nature can rest and refresh the mind.
