As Goldilocks once said…”This island is too big (Big Island), this island is too small (Lanai), this island is too busy (Oahu), and this island is too slow (Kauai), but this island is just right.” Maui that is!
The US News Best Vacation rankings are out. They identify top vacation spots based on methodology that is a combination of expert and consumer opinions. Jumping up 5 spots to claim #1, Maui was noted for just about everything you can find in the state. Most notable are its beaches. Other highlights include amazing snorkeling, world-class coastal golf courses, and even the hula!
Following Maui was Yellowstone National Park, Washington D.C. and San Francisco. Oahu placed 8th. In world rankings, Maui was 4th. Paris 1st, followed by London, Barcelona, Spain. New York City took the 5th spot. These rankings are used to help visitors whittle down destinations to visit worldwide.
I couldn’t agree more with these findings. I was born and raised here, but did not appreciate all what Maui had to offer until I spent 25 years living in Los Angeles. I’ve been back home for 5 years now helping others find their dream life on Maui.

So true, Ken. Something to note, Maui is the only island destination in the top 5 of either list, as it should be.

@George – thanks for reading. I’ve written blogs on other lists that Maui has topped. It’s hard not to top a best list here!

@julie – thanks for reading. Yes, I too hear that phrase often….even when I was growing up a long, long time ago here.
