I am writing this to address all of you who think you cannot afford to come to Kauai. Having fun on Kauai can be done on a budget. When you are a group of four+ people, purchasing some of the amazing activities Kauai has to offer can get costly. Not everybody factors in over $500+ for fun per day.

Enjoy Kauai’s Natural Wonders
No need to get discouraged if you are not going on a helicopter ride, horseback riding to the waterfalls, zip lining, etc…Yes, these activities are well worth it, however, the absolute greatest activities Kauai has to offer, and the reason many travelers visit, are to enjoy our natural wonders that surround every turn. These are all free for the taking.
Swim in Kauai’s pristine waters
Kauai is an island to rejuvenate your soul and take in all of the amazing landscape that surrounds you every step of the way. No matter what side of the island you are on, you can venture on your own magical journey far, far away.
Yoga on the beach
Our beaches are hard to beat. Walking the shoreline, swimming with turtles, yoga on the beach, snorkeling, surfing, building a sand castle, beach BBQ, and kayaking, and more are all available for free, or a minimal cost for the equipment rental.

My daughter, Alana, prefers to surf
Phenomenal Hiking Trails
Great quality time that cannot be bought. Maybe it is time to relax and read that book you have wanted to read all year. Our hiking trails are phenomenal. If you are not up to hike, the 11-mile Kalalau Trail (one-way) that follows the Na Pali Coast, it is not a problem.
My daughter and her friends just hiked the Na Pali Coast Trail
Consider taking a day hike and go for 2 miles in to Hanakapiai Beach and return. There are many other hikes and options to suit most anyone’s stamina. Kauai has endless walking trails that lead you on an enchanting adventure.
The New Kauai Bike Path
One of my all time favorite activities to do with my daughter is to rent a tandem bike and ride along the beautiful coastal trail bike path on the east side of our island. The right time of year, you can even take in whale watching at the same time.
Tandem bike riding is our mother-daughter tradition, and excellent quality time
It is a fairly easy ride for anyone as it is all paved and there are no steep hills. They even have a kiddie bike trailer. No child left behind. Cost to rent a bike is only an average of $5 to $10.
Ready for Island Living?
These are just a few of my family photos. I feel like I just went on a holiday…wait…I live here and get to enjoy these special gifts daily. I have lived on the islands now for 26+ years and am awestruck by the beauty every single day. No extra charge for rainbows.
