3 Great VA-Approved Condos in Honolulu

Honolulu has a large selection of condos to choose from, many of which are approved by the VA for loans. I’m asked a lot about the area, Kaka’ako and Ala Moana in particular, as it is an exciting neighborhood with new condos, restaurants, and shops opening all the time; all that and Ala Moana Beach Park at your doorstep. Unfortunately, most of the new construction doesn’t qualify for a VA loan just yet. The good news is that there are some great options in existing buildings in the area that are approved by the VA.

Here are three great 2 bedroom view condos currently on the market, all priced under the VA loan limit:

Capitol Place

Capitol Place is a newer condo tower located downtown in the Capitol District. It has a great amenity deck with a gorgeous pool, large modern gym, and you can walk to restaurants and bars in Chinatown and Downtown as well as lots of cultural activities in and around the Capitol. Unit #2003 (MLS# 201625720) is a well priced two bed, one bath unit with nice views. The kitchens and baths are all what you would expect in a great modern city condo.

Pacifica Honolulu

Pacifica Honolulu is one of the newer towers in Kakaka’ako along Kapiolani Boulevard just before Ala Moana Shopping Mall. It is also one of Honolulu’s tallest buildings. The real story at Pacifica is the amenity deck. which includes a huge heated pool, several picnic areas with grills, two movie theaters, a huge state-of-the-art gym, and a private party area with a catering kitchen. There is also a fenced dog park. The Pacifica also has some of the lowest HOA fees despite the great amenities.

Unit #206 (MLS# 201628749) is a great two bedroom with a den. It even has a bit of ocean view despite being on a lower floor. I love the layout with the two bedrooms and the den off the kitchen that can be used as an office or even space for a guest. This well priced unit should go pretty fast.

The Residence at Makiki

The Residence at Makiki is a brand new tower in a central location with a very affordable price for Honolulu. Low HOA’s as well. Unit #204 has two bedrooms, two baths, and one parking space (MLS# 201630459). The complex is pet-friendly and allows up to two pets. This building doesn’t have a lot of amenities like the two listed above, but that’s what keeps the HOA fees low. If you are looking for brand new, this is a great option for city living.
