2014 Sony Open & Golf Course Homes on Oahu

All eyes will be on Oahu this week as the 2014 Sony Open is underway in Kahala. While the rest of the mainland U.S. is coming out of a Polar Vortex and record cold temperatures, we are warming after we had some “relatively” cold weather this past week that got below 70 degrees. I’m sorry, I don’t mean to rub it in. Although it’s a given that we have natural beauty here, there’s truly a reason why the PGA chooses Hawaii to host events this time of year.

Luxury Homes For Sale Along the Waialae Golf Course

Wrapping up last week’s tournament on Maui, Waialae Country Club is the host of the Sony Open on Oahu. I’ve written a number of articles in recent years (2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013) featuring the real estate for sale along the golf course. Why break tradition? For those interested in knowing what’s for sale along the course, here is what is listed today:

Waipahehe Home fronting Waialae Golf Course

This one fronting Waialae Golf Course (MLS# 201400290) was just listed for $3.5 million

Kaimoku Golf Course Home

Here is the lowest priced listing (MLS# 201328073) priced just under $3 million

Waiholo Golf Course home

The highest priced golf course home (MLS# 201334843) can be yours for $5.88 million

Oahu Golf Course Homes

If you can’t afford a few million bucks for a golf course home in Kahala, there are some leasehold condos at the Kahala Beach Apartments. Don’t let the low prices fool you. The carrying costs are several thousands a month once a Buyer pays cash (due to the short term of the lease, banks won’t finance them).

Another option would be a fee simple home fronting a golf course somewhere else on Oahu. Here’s a gallery of some of those options to help get you started. Enjoy watching the Sony Open this week, and I’ll be here if you’re looking for a golf retreat to escape to and purchase on Oahu.
