1950's Kona Cottage For Sale on Kona's Alii Drive

Here is a quaint beach cottage with a feeling of “old Hawaii” and within walking distance to White Sands Beach and Kailua Village. This is a rare and delicious Alii Drive home, or vacation rental.

If walls could talk, perhaps this adorable little beach house could tell us about the days of yore, along Alii Drive. This charming property is a rare find, and even rarer is the proximity to one of the most highly regarded beaches in Kona.

La’aloa (very sacred) Beach park is a hop, skip, and a jump away. Locally known as White Sands, Disappearing Sands, or Magic Sands, the names all fit. The sand is white and it magically disappears leaving the bare naked lava rocks where the children built castles the day before.

A stones throw away is Pahoehoe Park, where a picnic, or a nap, or both seems in order. With benches and palms lining a lovely walking path, this park is perfect for watching one of the spectacular sunsets of Kona.

I especially enjoy watching the Hula lessons held here! Between these two beaches is a hotel with a restaurant space. We are all hoping the ‘Jameson’s by the Sea’ restaurant will re-open someday, but as the years go by, chances seem slim.

This bungalow was built in 1959, which was the year Hawaii was admitted to statehood. Rich in history and in craftsmanship, it should be considered one of Kona’s best values. When you are on this property, you feel transported back in time.

This property is currently for sale. Click here for your rare opportunity to own a piece of Vintage Hawaiian property for around $700K! For photos of the house, please click the following MLS link (MLS# 239807).

Come to Open House on Wednesday, 7/20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.! Call me if you need directions at (808)-333-9999. I’ll see you there! I can also provide a private showing, email me at jill@hawaiilife.com.
