1350 Ala Moana – Affordable Old School Penthouse Life

1350 Ala Moana is one of the first luxury highrises west of the Gold Coast. Built in 1968, this is luxury from another era.

An oasis from the surrounding busy city, it cleverly placed its pool and park-like recreation area atop the building’s parking structure, thus elevating it away from street level disturbance. We are used to seeing this design now, but this was revolutionary in 1968. Enter into the lobby, and the words Urban Chic spring to mind.

PH3 – New to the Market

New to the market as of this writing is PH3, a 2 bed, 2 bath unit offered at $1,300,000. At $1,231 per square foot, this penthouse seems a bargain especially when compared to the yet-to-be-built Waiea’s 33PH-B at $2,572 per square foot, or the segment busting Hokua’s PH-B at $6,436 a square foot.

Awash in a beachy-hued neutral palette, there is still an air of sophistication and elegance here, and though it is perhaps not the vision of modernity that Waiea is bringing to Honolulu, it is one that has been long sought after, and arguably one that will continue to be sought after for many years to come. Timeless, in a word.

Finishes here are as high end as you would expect in a luxury penthouse. Here a backsplash in the kitchen has been elevated to a piece of art due to the expertly chosen granite.

If living high in the sky is for you, then perhaps one of these penthouses will suit, if not these, then stay tuned for more in the Penthouse Life series.
