Kauai’s Princeville Resort is poised to re-open as 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay on February 15th. The iconic hotel overlooks Hanalei Bay, green mountains, valleys and abundant waterfalls, and we’re looking forward to viewing its fresh look created by interior designer Nicole Hollis.
According to Nicole Hollis, in renovating the hotel, a large portion of the existing lobby was removed to make room for a tropical garden interwoven with calming water and fire elements: Fully opened folding and sliding glass doors, all furniture groups focused outward to the stunning views, and spaces filled with lush plantings.
Local basalt, puka lava stone, and Eucalyptus poles were utilized for their natural organic beauty. Kapa patterns in custom textiles and works by local ceramicists were incorporated throughout. Local artists Suzanne Wang, Gary Eoff and Kamran Samimi accepted commissions to create unique pieces for the hotel.
According to the interior designer, by using a neutral palette, rich in textures and inspired by nature, the spaces were designed to celebrate the hotel’s spectacular view, bringing it front and center. Reclaimed wood was used in the public space millwork and the guest room furniture, bringing an added layer of texture and natural beauty.
With over 34,000 square feet of meeting and event space, 252 guest rooms and suites, and multiple dining choices, we are bubbling with anticipation. At last!
