Mid-Century Modern Honolulu Condos for Sale at Great Prices at the Waikiki Skyliner
The Waikiki Skyliner is definitely an authentic Mid-Century condo building. From its lava and intricate concrete block façade, to the machine age inspired cut out oval fencing surrounding the round sky blue pool, this is a building for those of us who relish style…
And they are in demand – most that come on the market are sold in about a month’s time, and the average time spent on the market last year was around 65 days. As of this writing, buyers have 4 to choose from: 2 one bedroom units, and 2 two bedrooms.
Which Unit is the Best at Waikiki Skyliner?
So which one do you choose? For me, it would have to be #1102 (MLS# 1206283), a one bedroom, one bath 551 sq.ft. corner unit that has a high vantage point to watch the beautiful, painterly Ko’olau Mountains; it is being offered at $263,000.
I know what you are thinking – “but wait, there is a 2 bedroom unit for sale for less!” True, #1406 (MLS# 1209309) is a 2 bed/1 bath that is being offered at $245,000.
In all honesty, I would only choose this unit if views are of little value to you, as the units that end in ‘06’ face the neighboring Ala Wai Townhouse building, and thus have very narrow views.
Why Choose the Waikiki Skyliner?
This is a Leasehold building, which is not the same as fee simple ownership. The lease fee for #1102 is $20.00/month, but the good news is that the Waikiki Skyliner has one of the longest and least expensive leases in Waikiki Beach today – they finish their term in 2058.
Six blocks away from Waikiki Beach, the Waikiki Skyliner is a great place to call home. Facing Ala Wai Canal, and capturing the breezes blowing across the Ko’olau Mountains, this quieter, more residential end of Waikiki is a great respite from the hustle and bustle of the world famous strip, yet is so easily accessible you’ll wonder why you haven’t moved here sooner.

What a cool building! I love all things Mid-Century, and this looks like the perfect unit to set off my collection of 50’s era furniture. Thanks, Erik!

The long lease and low monthly expense definitely make this complex a great choice.

@Louis Your welcome. It is a cool place. @Margaret You’re right. Cost wise its a bargain. @Heidi According to the MLS its a pet friendly building. I would want to double check with the Homeowners Association.

What a great price in such a central location. It looks like our Puerto Vallarta place might get sold if we can replace it with something like this! Thanks!

Great value for the units! Do you know what other amenities are offered in the building? I love mid-century modern, and this building has some of those classic features that take me back to the Jack Lord 5-0 days 🙂
