Talk Story #30 – Changes Continue in Kaka'ako at Ward Center on Oahu

While still studying plans for a major redevelopment of their ownership portion of prime acreage in Kaka’ako, the Howard Hughes Corporation continues to move forward with the completion of a previously stalled and partially finished building opposite Ward Center between Auahi St. and Queen St.

Recently, it was announced that the first occupants will be the national discount retailer T.J.Maxx taking over the second floor. Of course, now the question is…who or what will be occupying the street level? Attached and apart of this total land area is the newly opened parking structure, adjacent to Kamakee St., which was mentioned and pictured in a previous Talk Story article.

Already the exterior of this commercial section of the overall building is becoming rather striking as noted on the mauka (mountain) side, where it is next to the short roadway of Queen St., as it carves an additional entrance to Ala Moana Blvd. These are long awaited changes and finally happening!

Next to the ‘Ko’olani‘ and the luxurious ‘Hokua‘ high rise condominiums (I linked to a joint Gallery of available units) is a childrens park with more strolling paths toward the adjacent Queen Street and right around the corner from the Ward Shopping Center.

I know there must be growing excitement with the hundreds of brand-new ‘Pacifica-Honolulu‘ condominium homeowners eager to soon start enjoying their own lifestyle starting in November. They all must have agreed, at some point, that this prime ‘near to everything’ area called Kaka’ako/Ala Moana has fine reasons and fine amenities well worth investing in. It is a good time to take advantage of the various surrounding condominiums of different styles, sizes, and prices.
