I want to talk about golf. I come from a golfing family. I didn’t play much, preferring softball and soccer, except on holidays when my parents “forced me” (tough life, I know) out on the course. I’ve lived in North Kona on the Big Island for six years now and I never played until this year. Last Sunday, I realized what a beautiful place and how reasonable the kama’aina prices are at the Keauhou Country Club on the mauka (mountainside) course.
Effortless landscaping is yours when you live on a golf course like this Mauna Lani condo for sale (MLS# 242281)
It was absolutely gorgeous, with panoramic ocean views. The course is in excellent shape. (The setting made my game much better.) They have a great open-air restaurant with reasonable prices, good food, friendly atmosphere and, of course, a wonderful ocean view.
Yesterday, I played the Makalei course, which is a municipal course. Very down-to-earth, friendly employees, one minute you are in a forest and the next you are by a lake and then a panoramic ocean view. The breeze and elevation make it very comfortable. It is a challenging course, and with the peacocks and scenery, it was incredible.
After playing this past month I am now addicted. I don’t need the loud, super-active sports, and appreciate the calmness and beauty of golf. I especially like golf in N. Kona. If easy-to-schedule tee time, cheap fees, and an amazing variety of landscaping environments pique your interest, take a look at a couple of galleries of golf properties for sale. These galleries present two varieties on the theme: Kukio and Hualalai, oceanfront courses on the higher end, and houses and land at a broader range of prices.

[…] I went golfing last Sunday at the Makalei Golf Club in Kona. An absolutely gorgeous day for golf: cool, partly sunny, and cool breezes. The course is green and lush because it’s up on the mountainside. For me, the oddest thing was seeing peacocks strolling around at almost every hole. […]
