Pick up your clubs and get ready to enjoy Maui golf courses. It will be hard to choose a place to START. Please read some of the information to help make up your mind, or if you already have a favorite, feel free to enter comments to my blog!
I will start in South Maui area because this is my location on the island of Maui. Make sure you click on my links to get to more detailed information for these comments. I know enough and for you to know all, in my opinion.
View full information on the Wailea Course here. The link will actually get you all information for Old Blue Course, Emerald Course, and Gold Course, my favorite. It also includes Wailea tennis, dining, and contact information. Look for me on the Gold Course and ask for Gary.
Historic Makena South
Visit full information on the Makena Golf Course here. This course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and opened in 1993. Here is just a tidbit of information only few will know! The Makena Course had North and a South Course, now operating the North Course only.
I was one of the fortunate ones to actually play this course in earlier times. This is not a tale of “one that got away!” Once again, please add comments to what you know, or do not know about golf here on Maui!
Visit full information on Elleair Maui Golf Club here. Please take note of this tidbit of information. Go to the site and register, and when your birthday comes along you will get one FREE round during the month of your b-day!
This course is very reasonable in price because they are outside of the Wailea area which is more premium resort-style living. Do not take me wrong because this is by far a great course.
This concludes five of South Maui golf courses so far:
- Wailea Old Blue Course
- Wailea Emerald Course
- Wailea Gold Course
- Makena Golf Course
- Elleair Maui Golf Club
For REAL, my shot to the green
Visit full information on the Kaanapali Golf Courses here. You will find two exciting courses in Kaanapali, another resort area known as the West Side of Maui. Click here for the Royal Kaanapali Course tour. Click here for a Kaanapali Kai Course tour.
I want you to know about Kaanapali Golf Estates listed for sale. You also might want to BUY Kaanapali Hillside homes listed for sale.
This picture above Ritz-Carlton Maui surrounded by Kapalua Bay Course along with another Kapalua Golf Course well know for PGA Tour here in Maui “The Plantation Course.”
This concludes four more West Side golf courses:
- Kaanapali Golf Resort—Royal Kaanapali Course
- Kaanapali Golf Resort—Kaanapali Kai Course
- Kapalua—Bay Course
- Kapalua—Plantation Course
We are here in the Central Maui area to view, learn, and get to know about these golf courses. This picture above is Kahili Golf Course. This course runs along the West Maui Mountains high enough to see across the entire valley of Maui with bi-coastal views, and spectacular views of world famous “Haleakala.”
We are still in Central Maui area with the above picture known as “The Dunes at Maui Lani Golf Course.” Make no mistake about it! This course is one of the harder courses to figure out. You need to have a good shot in just about each hit to count. The hills and slopes will make you think twice after you chase you ball into the rough.
Oh yeah! Here is another Central Maui location known as Waiehu Golf Course. This one is run by the County of Maui and is a municipal golf course, very affordable if you live here in Maui. Hey, another great reason to buy a home here in Maui. Ha ha ha, you must be awake to get this one.
I pay only $10.00 dollars per round and split the golf cart fee of $20.00 with a pal. The course does have some ups and downs, although for the big bucks, who cares? You will find a couple of holes right on the oceanfront. I also need to mention first come first serve. You will have to call (808)-243-7400 just to find out how many people are waiting.
This concludes three more Central Maui golf courses:
- Kahili Golf Course
- The Dunes at Maui Lani Golf Course
- Waiehu Golf Course
Last, but not least! We are looking at Upcountry Maui Golf Course Pukalani Country Club. This course is surrounded by pineapple fields and they are on the way out! Maui Land and Pineapple has started to phase out pineapple production here on Maui.
The Pukalani Course is quite a bit cooler from all the others due to its location. You will see the ocean from many of the holes and it by far very narrow with many trees. The rates are fair and you can get a bite to eat at the course, or even run into the local shopping area and get local food and, yes, they do have Pizza Hut! Here is a list of Upcountry homes for sale.
This concludes the very last and only Upcountry golf course:
- Pukalani Country Club
I do want you to know also that we have two PRIVATE golf courses here on Maui and they are The King Kamehameha Golf Club and Maui Country Club. I personally have not golfed on either of them! I hope to make that change someday and get invited by someone who has membership.
There you have it. A total of 15 golf courses in all, and when you are here, or just want to get a round in, please call me.

I will make sure that when my group goes by that we will look for it! I get plenty of biz from golfing. Most of them want to be in these locations.

Great blog Gary- so far I’ve played the Gold and Blue at Wailea, Makena, both in Kaanapali, Kahilli, the Dunes, and Pukalani. I would have to say that Makena is my favorite just because of the fantastic scenery and I am not too serious about my golf game- with that being said I would say that Makena is also the most difficult one by far.
